'To stand apart' - poem - found this in the archives

​Burlington Vermont 10 September 2007

We stood side by side,
He had his arm around me
But to keep the space of breath and
touch,
between us,
was to nurture - observe - unleash -
flow - respect.

He said he had to let go of me,
to stand apart,
so that he may see deeper and understand.
​
To love someone whilst also giving
them the space to be entirely themselves
and to admire them for it,
​That. Is is a truly amazing experience.
